Christopher P. Maloney, Michigan State UniversityTitle: Characterization of the Rotational Band Structures of 131LaAuthors: C.P. Maloney, W. McHarris (Michigan State University); C. Hamphton (Oak Ridge National Laboratory)Abstract: The primary purpose of this research is the characterization of the rotational band structures of 131La. Experimentation involved the fusion evaporation reaction of 37Cl on 100Mo at 160MeV using the Tandem Accelerator at the Hollifield Radioactive Ion Beam Facility (HRIBF) located at Oak RidgeNational Laboratory. Detection was achieved using the Compton Suppression Spectrometer (CSS) in conjunction with twenty Germanium detectors with BGO and NaI shilding arranged in the 4(pi) configuration. Transitions in the yrast (pi)h11/2 band was determined using standard techniques from the HRIBF gamma-ray analysis software. Findings from these evaluations provided the basis for the search for higher spin states greater than 43/2. Comparisons with theoretical computations will be made for both 131La and 129La. |
