Ramos (California State Polytechnic University - Pomona); W.G. Lynch, W. Tan (NSCL, Michigan State University) Abstract: A Large Array Silicon Strip detector Array has been developed for nuclear reaction investigations with intermediate energy nuclear beams. It consists of nine telescopes that are arranged in a close packed geometry; each telescope consists of 65 and 500 mm silicon strip detectors which are backed by 4 CsI(Tl) detectors that are 6 cm in length. The measurement of two particle coincidence data constitutes a major use for this device and stipulates a compact geometry and an associated high density readout. Accurate energy measurements with the CsI(Tl) detectors are essential and their achievement with the photodiode readout of the array required careful attention to noise and cross-talk issues. |
