An Econometric Estimate of the Size of the Pornography Industry.
Abstract:
The news carries frequent reports about the increasing popularity of the pornography business, with estimates of the economic size ranging from 1.8 to 25 billion dollars, yet there has never been a systematic academic study which tried to identify the size of the pornography industry. In this paper I estimate the size of the industry based on the only scientific study of consumer expenditures on these goods, the National Health and Social Life Survey.
