Dean Jones says:

"I see that you have a lot of expertise in these research methods, and you have even researched the price of your hardware and software needs.  That is wonderful!  Very well, I will agree to your request.

Here is the new contract package I'd like to offer you:

**ONE guaranteed trip to a conference each year for two years

**$1,399.00 for software to analyze data

**$13,661.21 for hardware (i.e., special computer processor and other equipment)

**A nine-month salary at the 75th percentile

**Required to teach three summer sessions, none of which count toward your teaching load

**Three-day a week teaching schedule.

Welcome to our university!"

Critique:

You did a good job getting the Dean to agree to your specific hardware and software requests as well as agreeing to pay you at the 75th percentile.  Your teaching load is probably "heavier" than you'd like, which will hamper your research productivity.  Feel free to try again to see if you can get an even better deal.
