Dean Jones says:

We really want to encourage undergraduate research at our university.  OK.  I'll agree to 'split-the-difference' with you on equipment.

To summarize, here's what we agreed to:

**ONE guaranteed trip to a conference each year for two years

**$1,400 for software to analyze data

**$19,350 for hardware (i.e., special computer processor and other equipment)

**You agree to supervised FIVE Independent Study Research Projects each year.

**A nine-month salary at the 64th percentile

**Required to teach three summer sessions, none of which count toward your teaching load

**Three-day a week teaching schedule."

Critique:

This was a 'mixed bag' for you.  Yes, you got a high salary and you got the maximum for software and almost the maximum for hardware too.  However, you agreed to supervised FIVE independent study research projects -- that is a lot!  The sheer quantity makes it unlikely that many of these will turn into publishable papers. You will also be teaching quite a lot. This could also cut into your research productivity.   Feel free to play again to see if you can get a better deal that satisfies your interests.
