Below are some links to some interesting and/or useful Physical Chemistry web sites. Please let me know if you find any others of interest!

Atkins' Physical Chemistry Textbook (WH Freeman Press)

Literature Sources:

WebNotes supplement to Atkins (compiled by Carmen Giunta):
A really nice compilation of physical chemistry sites, arranged according to each Chapter in Atkins' Physical Chemistry. A few of my favorites from this list are:

  • The Page of Uncertainty by Dave Slaven, Saginaw Valley State University. An informal and informative group of essays on Heisenberg's Uncertainty principle.
  • Particle in a Box Applet at University of California, Irvine (requires Java-enabled browser). Initially the lowest-energy wavefunctions and energy levels are plotted for a particle in a box. User may change the potential by inserting a barrier in the middle of the box; wavefunctions and energy levels adjust to new potential.
  • NIST Atomic Spectroscopic Database at U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology. Energy levels, transition probabilities, ionization energies, and electron configurations.
  • NMR periodic table A magnetic properties database at Texas A&M University.
  • The Page of Entropy by Dave Slaven, Saginaw Valley State University. An informal and informative group of essays on entropy, mainly from a microscopic (molecular) viewpoint.
