Dean Jones says:

"Yes, I did see that your advisor wrote a very positive letter on your behalf; however, that is not uncommon. After all, advisors want their doctoral students to get jobs, right?

However, I didn't notice that you had been nominated for a teaching award. Congratulations! that is excellent and worthy of some consideration...

Here is the new contract package I'd like to offer you:

**TWO guaranteed trips to conferences each year for two years

**$1,000 for software to analyze data

**$10,000 for hardware (i.e., special computer processor and other equipment)

**A nine-month salary at the 55th percentile

**Required to teach four summer sessions, none of which count toward your teaching load

**Five-day a week teaching schedule.

How will you respond? (Please select an option from the menu below:)

1.  I accept your kind and generous offer.

2.  Perhaps we should adjust the compensation package a bit by considering my research...
