Sandhill cranes over UMR

Dr. Meredith Thomsen

I am a Professor in the UWL Biology Department and River Studies Center and Director of the UWL Environmental Studies Program. I study the effects of human actions on ecosystems – biological invasions, habitat fragmentation, climate change – and the mitigation of ecological damage via restoration. My teaching reflects these interests; I seek to engage students by highlighting the applicability of course materials to environmental management, human health, and sustainability.

I have been privileged to work with talented students in the M.S. program in Biology, and welcome inquiries from potential applicants. I also welcome interest from UW-L undergraduates looking for research experience.
